Now airing on NINE FM (99.9 WRZA / 92.7 WKIE / 92.5 WDEK) in
Chicago every Sunday night, Midnight - 1AM, and continuing
on Indie 103.1FM in Los Angeles every Tuesday night, from
10PM -Midnight, the cutting-edge English hosted show
features music, interviews and live performances.
The first English-voiced commercial radio show highlighting
Latin Alternative Rock, Hip-Hop, and Electronic music, The
Red Zone is music-driven and focuses on artists that reflect
the diversity of Latin alternative culture. The Red Zone
debuted on Indie 103.1 FM in June 2004, and can now be heard
on Chicago's NINE FM as of March 2005, with plans for
syndication across the nation in the near future. The Red
Zone can also be heard live on www.indie1031.fm Tuesdays
10PM - Midnight.
The Red Zone has created a new outlet for this music with
airplay for major and up-and coming acts such as Cafe Tacuba,
Julieta Venegas, Ivy Queen, Liquits, Gustavo Cerati,
Tego
Calderon, Babasonicos, Fabulosos Cadillacs, Los Abandoned,
Nortec Collective and countless others. Additionally, The
Red Zone has featured interviews and live performances by a
broad range of leading acts such as Oscar winner Jorge
Drexler, GRAMMY winning Ozomatli, Los Lobos and La Ley, as
well as Plastilina Mosh, Molotov, Pitbull, Aterciopoelados,
Mikel Erentxun, Delinquent Habits, Lucybell, David Garza,
Volumen Cero, Ely Guerra and more.
The show caters to the vast potential listening audience in
the US that wants to hear new music that reflects a
bilingual culture. The Red Zone has received great early
response from its listeners. Phone calls are received
throughout the show vocalizing listeners' support for this
unique program. Emails have been received from all over the
world from its online listeners, with feedback and song
requests received on a daily basis from listeners in cities
across the U.S., as well as countries like Chile, Colombia,
and Mexico.
Since its debut, there has been growing syndication interest
for The Red Zone and plans to expand the show to additional
key markets across the U.S., including New York, Miami, San
Diego and Texas.
The Red Zone was created and developed by Chelina Vargas and
Tomas Cookman of Cookman International. Indie 103.1 is owned
by Entravision Communications, a Santa Monica, California,
media company with fifty-eight stations nationwide. NINE FM
is owned by Newsweb Corporation, a Chicago-based mulit-media
and printing company.
