The string of multiple nominations in the past two years for
the Grammys and the
Latin Grammys, and the two Latin
Platinum Albums certified by the Recording Industry
Association of America (RIAA) for the collective sales of
over 450,000 units of two albums, corroborate once again
Akwid’s enduring power in the Latin music industry. Two
Latin Billboard Awards in two consecutive years is an
impressive feat for any Latin alternative act.

we have received to date from our audience. Winning awards
is cool because it makes you feel appreciated and your work
valued but what matters most to us is our people’s
recognition and support,” stated Sergio Gomez, older brother
of duo.
Prior to the award ceremony, Akwid also participated in a
panel discussion of the 2005 Latin Billboard Music
Conference where they spoke in depth about their music, the
emerging Latin hip hop movement and the new tendencies in
Urban music across the U.S.
Akwid is currently in the recording studio working on their
much anticipated third album with Univision Records, which
is tentatively scheduled to be released at the end of the
2005 summer.
