RAKIM & KEN-Y lead the list of finalists with seven
nominations and are currently recognized as the one of the
most important reggaeton duos. They have been nominated in the
following categories: Hot Latin Song of the Year for “Down”,
Reggaeton Album of the Year for “Masterpiece”, Hot Latin Song
Duo or Collaboration Vocal for “Tengo un amor”, Latin Song
Artist of the Year for “Me Matas”, Tropical Song Airplay of
the Year Duo or Group for “Tengo un amor”, Reggaeton Song of
the Year for “Down”, Latin Mastertone of the Year for “Down”.
The urban-romantic Puerto Rican duo continues to maintain
themselves in a solid position in Billboard’s radio charts.
This week they have 3 spots in the top 20 Latin Chart for
their spins in the United States and Puerto Rico. “Igual que
ayer” (third single of their album MASTERPIECE), “Me Matas”
(second single) and their remix of “Dime” Featuring Pitbull,
are all in Billboard’s Top 20 Hot Latin Songs Chart.
R.K.M y Ken-Y are the most successful new artists of 2006.
With more than 500,000 albums sold (between their debut album
MASTERPIECE and MASTERPIECE WORLD TOUR LIVE), 500,000
mastertones sold, 2 nominations to Premio Lo Nuestro 2007 and
sold out shows all over the world, making them one of the most
important artists today. Their first single off their album
MASTERPIECE, “Down” was recently chosen by Billboard as the
Latin song of the year.
MASTERPIECE received a double platinum album for their success
in reaching more than 350 thousand copies in the United States
and Puerto Rico. The first single “Down” was the #1 song in
Billboard’s Hot Latin songs and maintained themselves for 17
weeks in the #1 position in the Latin Rhythm Chart also
published by Billboard Magazine.
The Billboard Awards will take place this upcoming April 27,
2007 in Miami and will be transmitted live by Telemundo from
8:00pm to 11:00pm
